No one talks like this in real life. The last story is a bit of a disjointed mess. I don't even feel anything for these people except symbolic talking figures.

Only 13 Happiness Street is good. Reminded me of the claustrophobia and sense of onimous of the unknown. This was the only emotionally effective story. The rest is a lot of of arty disjointed-ish imagery that seems oddly banal. Poetic language did nothing to deepen my feelings for the characters. The last story Waves is a series of interconnected scenes of China during the cultural revolution.
