I like the idea of magic that can be mistaken for coincidence. But this also allows the whole story to take place in the mind of the protagonist who is a most unreliable narrator. I'd place this firmly in "magical realism" country.

I looked at a list of all the books in here. Saw that A Spell for Chameleon was mentioned and was 😨: "Oh no, it can't be that book is crap!" Now I got to where it comes up, and I am so glad that apparently Jo Walton agrees! 🤣
I mean I haven't read most of the books she goes on about how great they are. Only those she doesn't like... 🤔

Love the book club scene, I feel the "too much talking". And couldn't agree more about the Thomas Covenant Chronicles.

Surprisingly enjoyable, considering how little has happened so far and considering how I haven't read the majority of SFF books and stories name-dropped in here and where I've read them I don't always agree how good they are.... and when I finally decide to follow up on one, it doesn't appear to be in print anywhere -.-
