The book is rather easy to read, it's not dry at all! Many different resources have been used to show what the journey would have been like, and different reasons as to why people would make this taxing trek.
Something interesting to note, is that the Oregon pioneers would have largely been middle class. The upper class had no reason to go, and the lower lacked the funds.
