Wow, a very interesting and unique book. The author, Kenneth E. Bailey, really goes into the details of the living environment of the time of Jesus and before Him. He gives us more accurate idea of what some passages meant and their background.
Without understanding the proper background of the people and the language (Aramaic, Greek, Hebrew) much is lost.

Bailey is amazing! He is unveiling a lot of background and culture and customs that were prevalent during Jesus' time.
Bailey has studied and knows very well the Middle Eastern culture and the traditions, something that is lost in the West, but much needed to understand the Scriptures better.

By the way, I didn't know that Bethsheba willfully and intentionally bathed in front of her house window, so that King David would see him.

The Christmas story is clarified as well.
