Eleanor Oliphant is a strange one, an awkward loner with an exaggeratedly formal way of speaking, with no social graces whatsoever and a lack of self awareness that has her judging others on their supposedly poor social skills. I’m finding Eleanor neither charming or funny as others readers have, and having a laugh, if that were possible, would be at her expense.
