The major theme in this book is to live life to the fullest. Sam never knows when he's going to change into a wolf again, and he knows that this time, he won't change back. Sam only has a small amount of time left, but says to Grace, "We don't have time to be sad" (202). This is true because if you waste your time being sad about what will come, you won't be able to enjoy what is already happening.

Grace has just found out that the wolf that saved her life a few years back was actually a werewolf! And he has finally turned human. His name is Sam, and a feel very bad for him because he had a very bad background, and his life has always been allover the place; between human and wolf. He expresses this when he states "For once in my life, I was here and nowhere else." (88)
