Moving on even though I got my maleficent knickers in a twist a time or ten I still enjoyed this one. I am taking my headdress off though because those horns are a bitch.

One of my biggest pet peeves is not knowing what characters look like in books. I need details so I can picture them in my head. On this occasion it works, Eli has no idea what he looks like (having no reflection) so why should we be privy to those details either.

Some of the idioms are too current and keep pulling me out of the book. One character saying he was “down with the kids” doesn’t fit. The setting is the early 1940’s?

A British character who died circa 1890’s would say “bum” if he was using slang. He wouldn’t be saying “ass” as Eli instructed him to do here. He may however be persuaded to say arse...You know, being British...
