Not quite ready to finish this story.

The excitement of a tourney! I've never gotten my head around why anyone would want to joust, but the sword fighting is rather entertaining. I enjoyed Hayley's first tournament foray, it was like I was there amidst the dust and noise and smells. Must read on to see how she fares.
On a side note, isn't Gavin just dreamy???

Just discovered this book is much much longer than I realised! I was already thinking it was kind of long for YA at 566pp according to GR, in reality it is 1384pp. Good thing I'm really enjoying it, and I really like Hayley and Gavin.

The battle is finally here!

I've got a digital copy of this on my laptop, yet it seems every time I go to sit down and read it, my laptop is being used by a smaller version of myself... Apparently doing their homework is more important than my reading time, scandalous, isn't it!?

Initially I found the writing style a little off-putting, but pushing through I've found an interesting story!
Hayley, aka Hayseed, is a little pathetic; street urchin, thief, so thin a stiff breeze could knock her down, and yet she has been chosen to be a Knight's squire. She has a long way to go before she is up to scratch, but the journey so far has been rather engaging!
