I do not enjoy Dickens' writing about America. If you removed the American chapters, this novel would stand up well with his others. On the other hand, I find Mark Tapley a wonderful character and without the American chapters there would be little use for him.

slow start, which is often the case with Dickens. Hard to judge at all with less than 100 pages undertaken.
