Chessela Helm added a status update
In the end I decided not to bump up my Goodreads challenge to a higher number, because I do want to keep it at 150 in future years. But with part-time employment and not enough of my own writing work this year, I finished my challenge! Now it's time to set aside the reading and get back to the writing. Or rather, revising. :o

Chessela Helm Thanks! I've been reading some great books lately, so it's been fun. But I definitely need to get back to my stuff. I don't know that I would call the revision process hell, but it sure isn't much fun. It's just kinda boring, I think.

Maybe she calls it that because of intense deadlines? It's not hell for me, either. I think of it as a chance to make my story the best it can be.

Chessela Helm I think it just really depends on the person. I can imagine if someone does a first draft that is not strong, the revision process can be very painful trying to get everything to work. For me, I don't really have a lot to do in the revision process - mostly just word choice. And while it's necessary to do that because, as you point out, it will make my story better, it's neither awful nor fun. I would describe my process as Revision Blahs. lol

So the workshop you need is, "Beating The Revision Blahs." Lol.

Chessela Helm Hahaha. Yes! 'How to Make Revisions Fascinating and Fun.' Maybe in ten years I can teach that.
