Reading this noval during a holiday is a reminder of how fortunate I am. I know it's a fiction but some parts reminded me of my grandmother's childhood tales about people in their village who could not find food though they're framers. Some parts were shocking like a mom killing her newborn baby just because it's a girl. Not sure how accurate it is but it made me think of what poverty changes in people.
