I honestly can't finish this book

Some of the dialogue feels really disingenuous. ex: the conversation I'm on rn where Justin tells her that he didn't want to interupt her romantic growth process and that she needed the time to date "like a young black woman should" it bothered me cause living in Colorado, white men tend to be a big fan of color blind racism and I find it hard to believe a white guy would fix his lips to be this direct abt it.
