This book begins with introductions of the main characters and how they meet. Ana is a small young woman with a heart condition who had to move to Idaho to be closer to family after her mother gets laid off. Chance is a young mechanic who lives by the lake and would prefer to spend time with his grandfather than his friends. They become partners in an elective class but both have secrets that keep them gaurded.
