Finally finished The 42nd Parallel; I expected better. The characters seem fake and the narrative voice is not very captivating. I find myself skimming over the camera eye and newspaper sections; they are often too vague for me to understand the significance of what they're describing. Manhattan Transfer is definitely crafted better; I admire Dos Passos' writing more in MT.
