Well, fuck. Here comes the devastation. And as the reader, we knew it was coming. There's themes of inescapable fate, of becoming the person everyone thinks you are, even if it's untrue or unjust. A sense of impending doom, of waiting for a person to finally break. I knew this was coming, but here we are, at the beginning of chapter 7, completely devastated. I love it.

Ok, now I am starting this in earnest. I decided to check out the audio book because a) I can get more accustomed to the more demanding prose and b) I want to listen to a Northern Irish accent for 14+ hours. Who can blame me? I reread chapter 1 and oh man, it is much more sinister. "Say Nothing" really helped set the context and culture.
