I don't know why I enjoy that there are so many different references instead of using the same stories as examples over and over, or why I get a kick out of recognizing them... but there went a reference to The Goose Girl.

"I've met readers who tell me they never read songs in books. Never."
That's me! The only exception is for Beta reading, even though I never have anything to say about the songs except that I don't care about them. It seems bad to skip when you're Beta reading.

"Wreck havoc!"commands (in those words exactly) the end of the chapter on Creating Governments for your fictional world XD
Also, I appreciate that she recognizes that a Democracy and a Republic are not the same thing.

And there goes a Lunar Chronicles reference in the "Creating History" chapter.

That creature creation chapter shall be very useful for reference in future, methinks.

Can't say I expected a reference to Shadow and Bone (specifically the stag, this being the chapter about creature creation), but there it is.

I mostly appreciate her enormously varied taste. And that, even though she confesses she prefers to write fantasy, she doesn't hold Tolkien as the end all and be all of the fantasy genre, and admits that it has flaws, or aspects one should either avoid imitating or at least be cautious about.
I suspect you would particularly appreciate that she became a writer because of Harry Potter, but not in the way you'd normally expect. She's got a chapter near the end about how it was that she ended up an author when as a child she wanted to be a fashion designer.
