Surprisingly good. The prose is only serviceable but the characters are well-drawn and engaging and it's clear that this is a story dear to the author's heart. I "rescued" this from languishing forever at the back end of my Kindle's fiction category (the last item on page 95) and, so far, I'm glad I did.
