Differentiates between true experiments and quasi-experiments. Quasiexperiments are where you dont do a controlled experiment but look at various different studies that show links between input X (e.g. smoking) and output Y (e.g. lung cancer). She claims that in sex difference science issues arise when scientists select their studies or deduce things with different out or input. And also that in many cases Y is vague

The author sets out to tackle what she calls brain-organisation theory. This is the theory that sex hormones determine the sex of your brain before birth and that these hormones are either male or female. It does not rule out that environmental and social effects can change aspects of the brain but it does not believe that there is a tandem relationship between hormones and the environment.
