I already loathed this man before starting the book, picking it up partially to see whether I might develop any empathy for a guy who sequesters his wife for thirty years of mind games and then makes her spend their last together preparing for his suicide. Not with quotes like this: "There were real life poor people who I could finally call my friends." Ker-wha...?
