In my book the antagonist is a mysterious corporation (lab) past the cities border. There goal is just a theory so far... but the main character is convinced they are responsible for the disappearance of people in the city. No one talked about this lab and no one questions it.

The author used a sense of urgency.

In my book, there was a moment of suspension when Eunsoo went missing. She was texting with Araceli and Eunsoo decided to come over even thought it was quite late. They never saw her again. When the main character, Araceli called Eunsoo’s mom to see what was taking so long, she was horrified to find out she wasn’t home. This was a very stressful scene because when they were on the phone no one knew where she was.
