I have such mixed feelings about this book. On the one hand I feel frustrated with the format and the ongoing use of "the fact that..." Despite the overwhelmingly positive reaction and reception to _Ducks, Newburyport_, I feel like I'm in "The Emperor's New Clothes," in the sense that it's like I'm the only one who is not completely smitten with this and does not see what everyone else is seeing...

...On the other hand, I keep reading and I just get so many of the feelings the main character is experiencing and the things she makes observations about. It's almost as if this is a cataloguing of all kinds of personal and pop culture references and _this_ is what makes the book so fascinating for me.
