I’ve always intended to read the The Story of Civilization from beginning to end, but I’ve had about six of these books for years and only jumped around. I treated them more as short story collections, which is a shame since I never got a sense of the overarching narrative. Durant’s an amazing writer and I think now is the time to actually read these the way he intended them to be read. So let’s begin.
