So that was more awkward than at all hot and honestly I think the story would have been better without it, at least in that location. And for the record, from what I remember it's not a myth.

Yeah I just can't see a woman who holds onto her virginity until her mid 20s heading off to give it up in a hotel after 1 makeout session. Also I feel like a lot of the development of feelings is being done off page which doesn't really work for me.
