“I’m not talking to you.”

“Fine,” he said darkly. “Then we won’t talk. Seems like talking only ever caused us problems anyway.”

His mouth crashed down on mine.

It's about to get sexy up in here.

“Is this all right?” he asked, pulling back. His dark eyes searched mine. “I’m not going to force you.”

“You already told me that. Besides, I have my safe word.”

Unsatisfied with my response, he lifted an eyebrow. “Say yes.”

Leaning closer, he lowered his voice, as if to tell me a secret. “Don’t worry. I trust you.”

A soft noise sounded from behind her. Or was it in front of her? Frances couldn’t tell. An animal? She paused again, and then she heard it clearly in the quiet: a low roll of laughter, dark and triumphant. The hair on her skin lifted in alarm.

"I promise to do everything I can to make this the best night of your life.” His smile was sincere, for once, but his hooded eyes held darker promises.

It was those promises that interested Frances most.

“Then yes,” she said. “I’ll come.”

I wrote a smutty story set in a small Midwest town about a young woman dealing with trauma! Yay! I'm almost done editing, so I'll be posting teasers. :)

He stepped forward to pluck out the leaf that still clung to her hair, twirling the brittle stem between his fingers to show her. She ran a self-conscious hand down the long strands, smoothing them.

“So what are you doing here?” he asked.
