Pigeon Pie finished. A fun caper that can only be funny if understood in its historical context.

Finally finished the re-read of Christmas Pudding. It was something for sure, but I'm not sure I'd recommend it.

Christmas Pudding has had a few moments of brilliance but so far it's been mostly tiresome and dull. At least Highland Fling was fast paced.

Starting the re-read of Christmas Pudding. It seems Paul Fotheringay would be inspired by Mitford herself.

Finished the re-read of Highland Fling. It has its fun and insightful moments, but it's ultimately quite inconsequential.

Wigs on the Green: 3 stars. This novel is more interesting than entertaining. Quite tiresome as a comedy of manners, but pretty good as a window into the lives of the Mitford sisters and into the political climate of pre-WWII UK.

Passages like this one make me cringe: 'I don't know a thing about politics, but I'm sure Hitler must be a wonderful man. Hasn't he forbidden German women to work in offices and told them they never need worry about anything again, except arranging the flowers? How they must love him.

Just starting Wigs on the Green. Will a giant joke about fascism stand the test of time?

Christmas Pudding: 3.5 stars. Better and funnier than Highland Fling, but still weak.
