I... didn't realise this was one of those proto "sinful woman repents; is punished nonetheless" stories that would be so popular 20-30 years later. I was excited about Trilby (and every other "bad" woman I guess) because she's unashamed and proud of her work! And all it takes is one bleeding heart naive painter to turn her into a nun.
