Gah! Parts of this ring very true and are insightful - other aspects are so cloth-eared as to be irritating. Faulks seems a bit complacent in some of the satirical points he appears to be making. All in all, I'm making myself read this for the Cityread/reading group; if I had the choice, I'd give up and start Skagboys by Irvine Welsh, which I'm looking forward to much more.
