After setting the scope of the book as being a short introduction to the essentials of RT rather than as an exposition of all reformed doctrines Sproul asserts in the introduction that RT is a theology; not a religion. He states the difference is significant because religion is driven by its understanding of how man reacts to theology while theology itself is driven by its understanding of the character of God.
