I think the main idea of this chapter is Mellie giving a flashback of her past and how it leads to the main idea of the whole story. "Every bed time when I was six," (9) This shows how she was giving a flashback. Mellie has a crazy imagination, which leads her to being made fun of at school.

Mellie's life is changing now. She's moving into a new house, which she isn't used too. She has to deal with this new boy in her town named Timmo, and the first time he met her he called Mellie and her mom fat. "Moving my stuff to a new room, felt like starting my life all over again"(87) Mellie feels like she has to start her life over again.
