WOW. i mean, not wrong, he does....... but wow that burns.
(i wish i could fully give this book the attention it deserves but i seem to only be able to think minecraft during all this. oh well. all this time at home and not much reading for me.)

it's funny how easy it is not to forget your characters' past trauma and ptsd and yet they so often do, why aren't more books like this one

"It's going to be alright."
"No, " Rho moaned from the shadows, "it's really not."

this is what you get when you're a born pessimist and you're feeling optimistic for half a second

i do like the discussion around the glaring ableism of norlander culture and the attempts to dismantle it by the protags who learned better, it may not be the most subtle storyline but it's not common enough to see disabled characters and characters with chronic illnesses in fantasy actually MATTER and this series has a ton of them: they struggle but still live their lives as best they can. 2 are povs!! it's great.

not only was the rho x kira scene excellent, but now i got great moments with isa x jachad and lahlil x jachad; the middle of this book is crushing it. also, squirrel cameo! yess!

had a short break from this book (bc pandemic stress), but oof was that a good scene in chapter 18

so far, this is a mixture of some great things and some not-so-great things, but i do have to admit this sequel has a much more natural pacing than book 1

ouch... well, from bad to worse i guess! plot drama aside, i don't regret spoiling some thing for myself, including the fact that my preferred ship gets together, because now i can appreciate the dynamics in the triangle without wondering how it's going to play out
