Gradually dipping my toes into this one; very complex set of characters, which does not fit my reading style (which is largely an abject failure to concentrate on one book at once). But the story is compelling, so I think the extra effort require to keep everything organized in my mind will be worthwhile.

Solzhenitsyn's chapters on Stalin are fascinating. They could be a short story in themselves. He crawls inside the dictator's head and creates a world so real, it's hard to believe that it's fiction.
