We have AT LAST gotten to "The New Yorker" years; I'm hopeful that it will be much more interesting now!

At this point, about one-forth of the way through the book, Thurber is 28 and still in Columbus, Ohio, and I’m hoping the book gets LOTS more interesting. Too many very long verbatim letters from Thurber to friends — unreadable and eventually UNREAD, although the last one I encountered was good. Sign of approaching maturity, perhaps?
