One of the reasons why Ellie didn't want to go into witness protection is because she'd never see her brother again. But as of right now, she isn't allowed to know where he is and it implies that she barely sees him anyway. Um.

Um, wasn't he vehemently stating about 5 pages ago that he doesn't want or need a mate? And now he's so overjoyed to find her?

Yeah, I know it's a short novel so insta-lust is a thing. But still. It makes me think that the whole mating bond is a mystical thing that can change a person's mind in a snap. Not sure if that's really a good thing or not.
