gasp the intrigue ! no birdwatch update but she did affirm she was no bird. further observations this time around: i hate rochester even more if possible while at the same time loving his character ... unfortunately he really does say some funny things and so many quotes from goodreads are actually things he says :’( anyway jane rules

birdwatch update: rochester compares her to a bird when he says that she's too timid and that he wants to draw her out, and her soul will soar etc. she says nothing, but she has not compared herself to a bird for a while.

paying special attention to birds mentioned this time around. i'm silly for not really picking up on the connection jane has with literal birds, especially as a kid. makes "i'm no bird" so much more powerful later!
