This is one of the most badly-written Doctor Who books ever but I love it. It has so many redundant phrases, typos, and poor dramatic choices. However, the managerial disputes and bungling by everyone involved on every level is close to reality, and because of the monster, which is basically a noxious weed that gets stuck in a pipeline and infects seaweed causing it to poison people.

Probably an allegory for 1960s paranoia about weed, with a lot of technobabble, mismanagement, and a tenuous exit story for Victoria thrown into the mix. I remember being terrified of this story. Now I just wonder why
