I find the prose to be dramatic and grandiloquent, but the symbolism is already intriguing and Zeltserman's choice of picking a usual antagonist (the straight, by-the-book cop) as a protagonist for his story is refreshing.

When I say this is bizarre, I don't want you to think I'm using an euphemism for bad. Bad Thoughts is a novel that was strangely thought, yet that walks to its own drum enough to remain fascinating to me.
