Thoroughly enjoyable; just hella long. Why use one word when eighty will do, and I still think “said He, Cromwell...” is a very long winded way to say “said Cromwell.” Love the character of Henry VIII in this. A bloated, indecisive monster. I’m totally rooting for the Cromwell boys, even though I know how this one ends.

My mum said this one was a drag. She found it a chore rather than joy to read like the other two.

I can absolutely see why some people might consider it a chore. It’s about three hundred pages too long I dare say, and I raced through the first two so agree that this one feels far too weighty. I’ve also broken the book a bit because it’s so heavy and cumbersome. The binding is coming away from the spine. Evidence I think of it needing a chop. Still, I have enjoyed it despite its faults. I’m nearing the end of it. What will I do with myself once this is over?
