I decided to re-read this poem after experiencing it as indecipherable gibberish the first time through, at approximately the halfway point. Reading poetry on my Kindle is always challenging, because it re-formats the lines and, in this case, it also randomly inserted line numbers, which was disconcerting. I will post a review of this, as I am out of space here.

I'm halfway into Round Two, as my first read-through went beautifully until, quite suddenly, I didn't understand much of anything at all. I can't remember where this occurred, so I am reading it again and starting to think my comprehension melted down when we adopted a dog and total discombobulation ensued. So, I decided to try it again -- and (so far), so good.

I needed poetry the night before we went looking to adopt a dog. Was so wound up, I could not sleep, so I ordered a Kindle sample of "Paradise Regained" by John Milton. My husband slept through the night, never knowing I was up reading Milton. When we actually found the DOG we were meant for, I asked my husband what he thought for a name. He paused and said (out of the clear blue sky), "How about Milton?" MILTON!
