Notes:
(1) I don't know about you, but I find reading about my own country deathly boring. The main reason I read is to escape reality for a bit and be transported to somewhere interesting. I do not find Canada interesting.
(2) The art's not helping. To me, Mike McKone's one of those guys like Dan Jurgens and Aaron Lopresti, dependable but dated.

Notes:
(1) This isn't terrible, the story makes sense... and in the realm of modern comics, making sense counts for a lot. I just don't care about any of it. Also it's lazy, relying on existing familiarity and investment in its characters.
(2) The whole thing has the look and feel of a CTV sitcom, eh? Canadian friends know what I'm talking aboot.

Notes:
(1) Ugh, can this be any more cheesy? First issue alone:
- let's show the CN Tower in the background
- let's call indigenous people First Nations
- let's make a poutine joke
- let's point out how Canadians pronounce about "aboot" (which is totally regional btw)
- let’s name drop cities for no reason
(2) WTF Lemire?! Stop being such a tool!

Lol, I get that. Where I live in the United States I don’t find interesting at all. I find places on the East Coast and West Coast much..."
Yeah, I'm a fan of older architecture too, and older things in general. It all ties together with what I'm saying because older things are more distant from you, so are "different" things by definition. Things outside your window are only fun to look at for so long before you get bored and want to look at something else.
Familiarity breeds contempt, the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence, and so forth. I'm sure Canada might seem fun and exotic to some people, but I've become numb to whatever appeal there might be, and have managed to drown it out over the years.
That said, Canada is objectively boring, comparative to nearly every other country :)
~Professor Blake~ wrote: "I've heard that Canada is pretty blasé in comparison to other countries. I still wanna visit it though."Even the most boring places in the world are nice to visit for a bit. The key is to get out before the novelty wears off.
pæştîmë wrote: "canada doesntreally have alot of fun stuff no disneyworld, seaworld, or legoland"Not the place to go if you're a theme park aficionado.
~Professor Blake~ wrote: "Yeah. Your reviews are always so great, Jayson. Their never blasé."Thanks, I appreciate it :)
Jenny wrote: "Jeff Lemire wrote it????? Must... Resist..."I'm not so far into it, so I can't say for certain whether it'll be good or not, but if you're a fan of Jeff Lemire I wouldn't tell you to stay away. For good or bad, this book is very Jeff Lemire :)
Jenny wrote: "I love Decender and Ascender by him!"Happy to hear that, Jenny! I own a number of his creator-owned work, but haven't yet read them. I've only really read his DC stuff from Green Arrow and Justice League of America. I thought those were just so-so, but I'm guessing he's the kind of comic writer who excels with his own properties rather than runs on mainstream superhero books.

Lol, I get that. Where I live in the United States I don’t find interesting at all. I find places on the East Coast and West Coast much more interesting. And I find other countries to be absolutely fascinating. I been getting more and more into architecture and I find American architecture so boring compared to a lot of other countries that have older buildings and different styles.
