Notes:
(1) Ugh, can this be any more cheesy? First issue alone:
- let's show the CN Tower in the background
- let's call indigenous people First Nations
- let's make a poutine joke
- let's point out how Canadians pronounce about "aboot" (which is totally regional btw)
- let’s name drop cities for no reason
(2) WTF Lemire?! Stop being such a tool!

Notes:
(1) This isn't terrible, the story makes sense... and in the realm of modern comics, making sense counts for a lot. I just don't care about any of it. Also it's lazy, relying on existing familiarity and investment in its characters.
(2) The whole thing has the look and feel of a CTV sitcom, eh? Canadian friends know what I'm talking aboot.

Notes:
(1) I don't know about you, but I find reading about my own country deathly boring. The main reason I read is to escape reality for a bit and be transported to somewhere interesting. I do not find Canada interesting.
(2) The art's not helping. To me, Mike McKone's one of those guys like Dan Jurgens and Aaron Lopresti, dependable but dated.

*By the way, I'm not saying there's anything wrong with any of these things, it's just that overloading a single issue with so many Canadian pop conceptions is double underscoring a point that doesn't need to be made.

Dan wrote: "This was a hideously bad book. I just don't get what people see in Lemire's work."To be honest, I don't see it either. Granted, I've not yet read any of his creator-owned work, though I own a number of them. I can only assume that he's just not suited to writing superheroes and that his indie work's much better. I'd have to read his non-superhero stuff to make a proper judgement about it.
