In the last part of Cowgirls and Indie boys, Sulk is finally allowed to go to a party with Gemma and the bees. They gave her a makover and dressed her up like a cowgirl to be ready to kiss the guy they picked out for her. But then Gemma lashes out out of nowhere once she sees Sulk all dressed up under the command of Carmen. As Sulk was going to go on her date, she saw Gemma sitting by a tree and sat down next to her.

In the section "Fifteen going on..." Jessica is getting yelled at because her mom doesn't believe that Hope is her best friend, and instead thinks that Bridget is. Hope is the kindest and most caring friend of Jessica's meanwhile Bridget and her stopped being friends because she became too bossy. Her best friend is going to be leaving soon, so today is the last day that she can see her, so she runs to her house.

In the section "The mud and fever dialogue", Pyrrho gets sick in the summer for a couple of weeks. This changes his whole life right in front of his family. He tried to get bitten by wild dogs, tried to drown, fall off a cliff, eat things that would make him throw up blood, sit in the sun to get dehydrated etc. This was a way of his "philosophy", he exclaimed. Finally, his brother knocked sense into him in the mud.

Adding on to that, her best friend Gemma got accepted into the "Bees" (popular group of people) and is acting really cold toward Suzy. Her parents won't let her go to parties because they think that only bad things will happen, but she only wants to go have fun with her friends.

Her friend tells her that her sweet sixteen is coming up, but Emma still has mono. Over the next days she heals and is able to go to her friends Sweet. She sees Jordan there and as she goes over there he apologizes and kisses her, but she realizes that he isn't worth her time anymore.

It goes into detail about how she lives life, living with her boyfriend Tommy, since her mom kicked her out and her 20 month baby named TJ. The "dead girls" are a group of her friends that are also pregnant and in the same situation but are 18. They help her out with buying cheap food and clothes for TJ to be happy.

Manon, who lived in New York, moved to Chicago to go to school with him.
