I accidentally read the third book before the second, it completely threw me. You really have read in order to let the characters grow on you, to let the magical investigation happen! I love and miss London and Ben Aaronovitch is so detailed in his discriptions you really get a feel of the areas. Enjoying the mystery surrounding all of the jazz musicians deaths and more. Grizzly bits, need to be read to imagine!!
