1/3 of the way through this book, I realized that this was a book I needed when I was about 16, rather than 20. But that allows me to love it differently, thinking of how my younger self would've appreciated the one-liners like, "At that age, I was, first and foremost, a thing to be judged, and that shifted the power in every interaction onto the other person." How powerful it would have been to read that at 16!
