I’m not sure if it’s Evanovich’s politics or the Burg’s or most of her readers, but all the interesting characters seem to have the same right-wing crotchety boomer mind. Half the characters? Fine. But the echo chamber within a book is too much, especially when it doesn’t feel parodic. And there was a good chance for this book to be more self-reflecting, such as when Stephanie says she’s in her 50s.
