Perhaps this would be more enjoyable if I hadn’t recently revisited Angela Carter’s brutally incisive Shaking a Leg. Unfortunately, Gaiman seems to only write when he can be utterly inoffensive in his accolades. His raptures about his (almost universally male) peers have become white noise. I find my thoughts drifting and I don’t regret the missing words. Gaiman’s journalism is like eating wrapping paper.
