very clearly influenced by Dostoyevsky. I've read Ms. Le Guin's books since I was a child and always considered her nothing more than a Good storyteller. This work proves her to be a master of prose.

Beautiful book. Very neatly ended in a classic way. Please, If you choose to read this, read it with a neutral narrator in mind, who is simply exploring worldviews. It is easy to get caught up in disagreeing with what is happening, and lose sight of what there is to gain through the exploration.

beautiful, powerful and mind bending at times. There are places that sound and feel like the discourses of Plato, then shift to Tolstoy's palatial beauty, and end with Neil Gaiman's gritty hyper realism. I would not recommend this book to my younger friends though, who might not be able to separate the hypothetical world where the allegorical anthropomorphized ideologies from the ideas themselves.

I've never read another author besides Dostoyevsky who could look at ideologies from both sides and personify them so well.
