Queen of spades was well written and had some interesting characters, but a stale story, safe for a few key moments.
The Old Nurse's Story and The Open Door were the first ones to give me chills and both are very engrossing. A testament to the influence and power of female authors this early in the genre.

Skipped the last 10 pages of Mr Justice Harbottle. What a dreadfully boring dredge.

Going through this again as I had skipped out on the longer ones last time. Reading these early 19th century stories is incredibly interesting, though they might not be the most thrilling.
Hoffman's The Entail is especially convoluted, reminding me a lot of Barry Lyndon but without Kubrick's touche.
Scott's tale in dialect was nice with a good pace.
Queen of Spades is my first Pushkin and I'm very impressed so far.

Wonderful collection, some dated, some giving lovely glimpses into the 19th century world. A few stories that gripped me in their potence. Grabbing the next story from time to time when I feel like it.
