Reexperiencing this lovely audiobook (again!) because it is the next book the new Hokah library book club will be reading. I suspect I'll also get the hard copy text in another week or two, at least to skim through some parts, but listening to Tom Hanks read this enjoyable story is too nice a treat to pass up even if I have listened previously - Goodreads tells me it was already back in 2020 when I last read this.

The reunion with their mother after Maeve's health scare has not been easy for Danny - I think like many of us, he's having a hard time forgiving and letting go.

Their dad has died, and they made the bad mistake of not making sure Andrea knew. After the funeral she has Maeve come (with no explanation of the purpose) and take Danny away so she can feel safe in 'her' house, that they are somehow still thinking will come back to them. Sandy and Jocelyn get lumped in with Danny and Maeve as a 'set' so they get a few arrow words off at Andrea, too.

This being the 2nd listen maybe I'm noticing more, but even the first time I remember appreciating the time shifting between when Danny was a boy and when he would come home from boarding school or med school and talk with Maeve in her car while they sat across the street from their old house.
