You remember the first 15 minutes of the movie Saving Private Ryan? Well this is how the first few chapters of this book play out, but only in a fantasy setting. Lots of dizzying carnage and bloodshed to start. Still warming up to the writing style & not really keen on the main character's name being Steve, but seeing potential for a good story here.
