This was a strange play, I must admit. I’ve read Albee’s previous work Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf, but this early work of his was very absurdist and weird. A couple - named Mommy and Daddy - meet up with Grandma and then a young handsome man shows up.

It’s a strange commentary on the American Dream, one I didn’t expect. I mean what is Albee trying to say here? That the middle class American way of life is childish? That the baby boomer generation is childish? It’s an odd play. I just quickly read it because it was Albee. He’s an interesting writer.
